This week's selection has us howling on the heels of a full-moon Friday the 13th! Two comics oozing with the supernatural lie ahead ...

The Beyond #1

We've been absolutely enthralled by this cover art, purportedly by Warren Kremer, for a long time, perfect for a full moon! "The Beyond" was one of Ace Magazine's longest-running titles, spanning 30 issues between 1950 and 1955.  Like most horror titles of the era, "The Beyond" was an anthology series, typically featuring three or more tales of supernatural suspense, as well as a few single-page features in each issue that illustrated "true" occult tales.

With a cover like that, you can probably guess the feature story in Issue #1: a werewolf gone wild in the countryside! Will the scientist-turned-creature be able to save himself before he's fingered as the killer?  In "The Reluctant Ghost," a spirit summoned at a seance gives its conjurers exactly what they want ... and more! "The Phantom Puppet" offers a word of caution about fashioning dolls afters serial killers, and in "Master of the Undead," a writer get some up-close research with his zombie subject matter ... or does he?  This is one series you don't want to miss!

Witchcraft #2

Another fantastic cover, this time by Gene Fawcette for Avon's "Witchcraft," a short-lived 1952 horror anthology series.  Sid Check, Vince Alascia, and Harry Lazarus are among the artists known to have worked on this pre-code title, which featured about five macabre stories in each issue.  What horrors await you in issue #2?  Well, we'll let Sid Check's fantastic contents page speak for iself ...

That's all for this weekend! Stay tuned this week, as we'll have another feature ready about a major series we're uploading!
